The Ones We Hate by Katie Golightly

Their dynamic made me laugh multiple times. I loved their back-and-forth banter a lot and I had such a hard time putting the book down.
I had to use Google translate to understand some of the Spanish but I did not mind that I had to keep stepping away from the book for that. I loved ‘hearing’ Leo speak in Spanish and talking to Piper in his ‘Spanglish’.
I saw so much of myself in Piper and some of the words I read hit very close to home. I didn’t know I needed to read some of the things that were in there, but every word I read in regard to Piper’s grief made me feel so deeply, and I am so glad I got to read her story.
I felt so much pain going through the book and there were multiple moments that I had tears streaming down my face.
I loved most of the side characters, and the way they formed a support system for each of the characters beautiful.
I wish I could read it again for the first time.
