Doctor Mistake by J. Saman

4.0

4 stars, I liked this one better than the first one due to the banter and how it played out. Still lots of whiplash moments due to Grace being fresh out of a bad relationship and Carter being the playboy he is portrayed to be. The "insta" is natural.

One bone to pick- if he was that strongly attracted to Grace, even if she was engaged, it didn't seem to affect his sex life. So its hard to believe he was SO in love with her SO fast, when he was sleeping around with no regrets. All of a sudden he was "all in". No wonder Grace had doubts!

I had several other highlight opportunities but no wi-fi so this is what I have left over :(

Grace clearly had no fucks to give when it came to a filter about Tony, and she heard about it in such an awful way:
“Well, now he can fuck all those women all the ways he never did me without having to bother rushing home to me. My vibrator gave it to me better than he ever did.”
Carter chokes on his breath, covering his face with his hands. Oliver makes a gagging noise in the back of his throat.
“Incidentally, did you pack it?” I ask.
“I have no idea,” Carter grumbles between his fingers. “I grabbed from drawers and just threw whatever I touched into the suitcase.”

Tony- not sure why having him respect her too much led to his cheating, why not just have him be a player instead of giving him a reason?

There was some (in my view) unnecessary drama with Janet and the Tony thing petered out pretty quick, it was mostly about the work they did at the hospital together. The epilepsy thing was an interesting sidebar in the story.

The pregnancy thing happens way late in the book (70%) IMHO. I was looking for it sooner but it all played out well.
"I (Grace) look over my shoulder at her. “You realize the irony of this, right? I’m an OB-GYN. Accidentally getting pregnant is like the most ridiculous thing we can do.”
“Not just accidentally pregnant, babe. Accidentally pregnant with your OB-GYN attending man-lover. This is like a Top 40 solid platinum album here. You’re a country ballad waiting to happen.”

I liked the supporting characters, probably why I am continuing this series. Book 3 makes so much more sense now that I started at the beginning :)

Poor Oliver, he's had it:
“So you’re pregnant. And you’re with my brother. Not just living together but together together and that means I’m going to be the uncle to your kid—not just in title, but for real—and once Carter mans the fuck up and marries you, you’ll be my sister, again for real.”
Grace gnaws on the corner of her lip, trying to hide her amused smile. “Yes. That about sums it all up.”
“I wasn’t asking. I was telling you. That’s what’s happening here, Grace.”

It was funny at the end, Carter kept spilling the beans to everyone before Grace could. He was so happy and proud and that was a satisfying part to read.
