The Book of Embraces, by Eduardo Galeano

This book deals with a lot of heavy topics concerning government regimes (some now toppled) in Latin America. It's sad and gives the reader an understanding of what it was like to live in those times, but there's also some hope for a better future in there too. The Book of Embraces is a slow read, but it's worth taking in small doses anyway.
