Legend by Marie Lu

This book was one wonderful surprise. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that i didn't get to it sooner. Honestly i had planned to read this book a while back, but all the mixed reviews on the site had made me decide otherwise. Lets just say i am VERY glad i read it.

First of all the actual plot is very original for a dystopian. It was not a copy of another books plot in the least. Lu's world building in this book was awesome, as she never info-dumped and everything was explained without being confusing.

When it comes to the characters I absolutely fell in love with June and Day.
June is a very headstrong (which i like) and was not over dramatic like many heroines i have been reading about as of late. She is super smart and i actually enjoyed her calculations, and i thought her perceptiveness throughout the book was great (props to Lu for actually managing to make those moments make sense. The fact that June stayed focus on avenging her brother was also very nice, as too many times lately i have seen female protagonist drop everything because a guy is cute.

Now although its true that Day and June are similar there are enough differences to distinguish the two throughout the book. Day, i really liked him. He wasn't mysterious, silent, or jealous- no Day was kind, he was smart, and he had real motives for what he was doing. I also appreciated that he got mad at June, instead of having the "its-okay-cuz-ur-pretty-attitude". His devotion to his family was admirable, and was consistent with his actions until the end.
June and Day were basically two sides of the same coin.

Oh and lemme just say this - Thomas can go and die.

I loved how all the little loose ends of the story were tied leaving very little plot holes. As a whole the story was written very well, had great pacing, and due to all the intense scenes, my nails are now gone (thanks Lu), but i have now found a new series to continue reading.
