Death is only the beginning is quite right for this book. I didn’t expect to feel so satisfied after reading a book about death.

The story follows Wallace, a basically heartless human being in life after his death. He gets plunged into the world of death after a heart attack and meets Mei, a very strong headed grim reaper. His death is met with an unexpected found family and finding humanity. Be ready to laugh and cry and appreciate the little things in life with this tale
Personally my favorite characters are Nelson the wise cracking old man of this family and the depiction of the manager. Yes you don’t want him around but it had me enthralled.

The characters in this story are the highlight. Each character was well rounded and well thought out. I can see some folks thinking this a slow, slice of life book, but being able to feel like I’m apart of the family is a highlight. Also the representation of LGBTQ+ community felt natural with this story.

Also experiencing the audio book version, I truly enjoyed the performance of Kirt Graves. I was able to distinguish each character, and I felt very immersed by this story. Overall if you love a story that is a slice of life I can’t recommend this beautiful story enough! So let’s see some ghosts but in a good way.
