Watching You by Lisa Jewell

4.0

Well. Damn.

I'll be the first to admit that I skip around my TBR list so frantically that authors like Lisa Jewell keep getting moved to the bottom. I see now that this was a mistake.

Watching You was such a good read! I struggled at first because I didn't much like the cast of characters, who are, overall, quite a slimy-feeling bunch. But I really struggled to put this one down because the story was so well-paced and interesting. I know some people have mentioned in their reviews that they saw the murderer's identity coming from a mile away, but I thought that Jewell did a great job placing clues throughout the read so that I had my suspicions but didn't feel sure of the truth until it was revealed.

I also thought that the overarching theme of 'watching' was executed in a very clever way. And that final page? Holy cow ! I had to read it twice because of how stunned I was. This wasn't a perfect book, but I can see it having a permanent place on my shelf one day. Now, let me get to the rest of the Lisa Jewell books on my TBR list...
