This book surprised me in a lovely way. I had read A Brush with Love and left it a but underwhelmed by the story and characters, but I wasn't done with the writer. I didn't know going into this book that it was a continuation of the same universe, but that's neither here nor there.
Lizzie is fascinating. Yes, she can be annoying, but she's relatable and kind and kooky and my heart broke for her many times. I think there was a lot that was autobiographical with Lizzie and that's fine. ADHD is a beast and so often it's looked at as just a shrug, but it can drastically affect how we live our lives. TBH I think I learned a bit about how I handle it myself from this book.
Rake was good hut I like he needed like one more edit to cook and be fully rounded. He had a few things that were too perfectly feminist and I wanted him to have some grit (since no one is perfect). I also wanted a little bit more reason as to why they love each other. I sensed their attraction, but not the love and that knocked it down a from being a perfect 5.
This is a book I will pick up for my shelf and has inspired me to continue reading this author's work. This is by far the best handling of accidental pregnancy I've read (as it's not SURPRISE accidental pregnancy for the reader, oof). I hope the next one is for Indira.
