Aphrodite the Diva by Joan Holub, Suzanne Williams

I really love these books! I'm reading them out of order due to loaning them from the library, but if you know basic Greek and Roman mythology you'll be fine doing that!

This book in particular was really cool because we had Greek goddesses and Egyptian goddess. I LOVE books that intertwine more than one region of gods and goddesses. Makes things more interesting, lol!

I do wish Aphrodite got more credit in books though. She always gets the ditsy and airhead title and she's WAY more than that. At least in this book the authors "redeemed" her at the end but I do wish it was not an issue to begin with. There's nothing wrong with liking "feminine" things. It doesn't make you automatically an airhead or whatever negative connotations society loves to place on anything girls and women like. Ex: pop music, boy bands, sweet drinks, bright colors, pleasant scents.

Again this is a watered down version of the myths so kids and tweens will adore and for that I can't get upset about there not being more hard hitting lessons that some find too political or socially aware, because the cartoon versions of myths got me started on my love for mythology as a kid. So any retelling is like an intro for you if you don't know much about that and because of that I hope this series continues to do that for other kids.

If you a 20 something like me, it's just fun to read! :)
