This is definitely the most complicated book I have ever read - purely due to the language - but it was 100% worth the long read. The plot was complex - Brontë's use of narrative really tied the book together, allowing the story to follow the life of Heathcliff yet embedding the other characters wholely into the story. What was interesting was how Catherine's character was so central in the book, yet she was not present for half of it. The back and fourth of hope and abuse and this free flow of emotions and uncertainty makes it so evident why this book is a classic - the gothic element within the novel makes it whole, and really reflects the whole of society so skillfully, despite the setting being so secluded. Ultimately, the book is so complex and was agitating to read from time to time, but it was so worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
