I wanted to like this more than I did.
I found the steamy parts to be awkward—an intimate family Christmas with the family contrasts kind of weirdly with the explicit descriptions that were supposed to be the sexual tension building. I also feel like they had kind of a flimsy foundation—they dated for 8 months 17 years ago, and the only thing that they have in common in the present is their sexual tension. The extent of the sexual tension is weird as hell in the family-heavy setting too—a big thing was Whitney’s relationship with her nieces and nephews, and it’s jarring going from Payton’s baby talk to Eli reminiscing about sex with Whitney, or from the baby pooping all over Eli to Whitney fantasizing about him naked (that scene gave me whiplash). I expected steam but it got very vivid very early on.
Gave it an extra half star because the ending was cute.
