Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void by Tim Lebbon
4.0
Anyone who knows me knows I love ancient history. I found this interesting. I would have liked more exploration of the Old City. I think there was lots of potential, though I believe there is more information in other books and comics.
Lanoree was at times hard to connect with. The characterization was slightly stand-off-ish though she became more like-able as she talked more with Tre Sana. However, I enjoyed the idea of Je'daii using a balance of both light and dark, so Lanoree's use of the force was captivating. Conversely, some uses of the force were less creative. Lanoree was always force 'punching,' which got old fast.
The switch between past and present narratives was well-done. It was easy to follow each narrative, and the build-up between the timelines were well-synchronized. It was an interesting story that I'd overall rate at 3.5 stars/5 stars.
