Author Brooke Baker has been struggling to finish her latest book, distracted by a crush on her hot new editor, Chase Dawson. She decides to channel those feelings into a secret manuscript that was never supposed to see the light of day. Fate has other plans, however; on deadline day, panic and a few glasses of wine lead Brooke to mistakenly send off the wrong file. She doesn't realize that Chase has received the top secret, super steamy story whose main character is based on him until a few weeks later, when she arrives in his office for a meeting. Even though it wasn't the book he was expecting, he loves the new direction her writing has taken and wants to move forward with publication, leaving Brooke to figure out how to work with Chase without him learning the truth. To make matters worse, her agent informs her that she's been booked on a promotional tour in advance of the premiere of a TV show based on her first trilogy, which has been optioned by Netflix. Brooke can't fly due to a medical condition, so they put her in a motor home for a cross country road trip instead - with Chase as her driver. He's volunteered to come along so that they can work on edits for her new book while she's on the road. Stuck together in such close quarters, is there any hope of Brooke keeping her crush under wraps?

This laugh-out-loud funny, sweet story is a new favorite for me among Max Monroe's many stellar rom-coms. Brooke and Chase's slow-burn romance was perfectly paced to keep me turning the pages well past my bedtime with plenty of flirty, witty banter along the way. I liked that they genuinely seemed to become friends before their relationship turned romantic, even as they were hiding their true feelings from each other. I completely understood why they hesitated to get involved, particularly with Chase's job on the line, but that didn't stop me from rooting for them the whole way.

I highly recommend "Accidental Attachment" for all romantic comedy fans. I hope Brooke's sister Sammy will get a story of her own in the future! (Maybe Thatch has another single billionaire friend? 😊)
