Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

5.0

Firstly, Everything, Everything has left me speechless.

I had high expectations going into this book after having read Nicola Yoon's second book, The Sun Is Also a Star, and discovering how absolutely sublime her writing is. Again, the storytelling and depth of her characters grips me and has me glued to the pages.

Through the unique situation in which the main character, Maddy, lives her life, the many facets of life and the meaning of living are explored thoroughly and vividly. Yoon provides a colourful array of people that help carry the story along, who act as key contributors to the lessons both given to Maddy and the readers. And although her condition is a unique one, the relatability of Maddy's feelings, thoughts, experiences, wants, and sorrows is extremely notable in Yoon's work.

Everything, Everything is a beautiful and painful thing that has left me feeling invigoured and awestruck.
