The way I couldn't stop reading the book, just like you can't not stare at a car accident. 
It felt too much like emotional torture porn and a few scenes inside the school could have been shorter/weren't necessary. It's still a page-turner and the ending felt right, Thelma & Louise driving off the canyon-style recklessness.
