Nairobi Heat by Mũkoma wa Ngũgĩ
3.0
One of the joys of reading is that it takes you places or points in time that you can never reach. This was a pretty standard whodunit, a mysterious body, multiple suspects, a femme fatale, no one is who you think they are, etc., etc. But really the mystery set in Madison WI, Nairobi Kenya and Rwanda was a pretext to examine issues of race and culture. Moral ambiguities are everywhere and though the plot itself was only fair, the questions it raised were well worth the read.
