I loved this book beyond words. It goes over various missing person cases a backcountry NPS ranger/tracker experienced over his 20+ year career in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. At the end, he provides tips for people to follow if they ever find themselves lost in the woods. The writing was very plain yet tasteful. It seemed like he had a healthy respect for each human life, and appropriately celebrated when they were found, and mourned when they were lost. But overall, the book was thought-provoking and informative. You could tell that Dwight really just wanted to share some of his SAR experiences to try to help others who might find themselves out in the wilderness in the future. He is the epitome of a trail angel.
