I loved this book. The fact that I already knew the story intimately (from the TV show) didn’t detract at all from the enjoyment of reading Austen’s masterpiece in its original form. The relationship between Lizzy and Mr Darcy is incomparable, and their dialogue and tension in the early stages of the novel set the scene very well. The later more dramatic plot points provided the necessary excitement in an otherwise slow-paced book, and the conclusion is heartwarming and romantic. Everyone should read this, and I expect it’ll be one of my comfort books (as well as my comfort TV show).
