Cable & Deadpool, Volume 2: The Burnt Offering by Patrick Zircher, Fabian Nicieza

5.0

In this volume, we have Cable/Deadpool issues #7-12.

In issue 7, we pick up with Deadpool fighting monks in a monastery. Then The Cat appears and they begin fighting because the Cat has already snatched the thing that Deadpool went there for. Next, Deadpool goes to Weasel and asks him for information on the Cat and then tracks him to Tokyo. Turns out, The Cat has a piece of equipment that can stop Cable. Deadpool snatches it and bodysides to where Cable is. At the end of the issue, the Six Pack get ready to go get Cable.

In issue 8, Deadpool breaking into a lab on Long Island and takes something called a CVF, which a lab attendant says can cause serious damage to the planet or rupture reality. Deadpool takes it for his client anyway, but when he's getting away, The Cat shoots him with a dart that knocks him out and grabs the CVF (Chronal Vacuum Filter). But then the X-Men show up and take it from The Cat. Next, we see the Six-Pack trying to take down Cable for SHIELD, but they are only doing a bit of recon, so Cable ends up taking them to his island (which people are calling Providence) to show them what he's up to in hopes of persuading them to stay there. Later, we see Deadpool with the X-Men. Deadpool has been commissioned by their team to get 8 parts of the original base Cable built.

In issue 9, SHEILD shoot rockets at Cable, but he takes them and diverts their energy into outer space. They notice that Cable's nose is bleeding- diverting all that energy has taken a toll on him. So SHEILD calls in the X-Men team, which includes Deadpool who is wearing a rather revealing costume. Luckily for the team, Deadpool changes on the plane. When they get to Providence, Deadpool sides with Cable, shooting Wolverine and Bishop, and tells Cable that they are going to take out his gravity generators.S Soon after, Cable finds out that Deadpool supports him, even though Deadpool won't admit it out loud. The Six-Pack come in to fight the X-Men and soon we see Cyclops and Cable (father and son) talking. Cyclops tells Cable that the X-Men were just the first wave and that SHEILD will send others. Cable says nothing is as scary as facing Cyclops (his father) was. At the very end of the issue, Silver Surfer shows up.

In issue 10, they discover that Cable's generators were just for show. It turns out that it was Cable's telekinesis that was keeping Providence in the air. So when Silver Surfer injures Cable, SHEILD scrambles to get the people out of there before it falls. Deadpool thinks that Cable had a backup plan so he takes the tech that Cable had him steal and bodysides, getting him and Cable out of there. Then Deadpool hooks Cable up to the device that excises his powers by taking out parts of his brain- the parts that gave him his powers. At the end, it looks like Cable has died.
