This was not a standard haunted house style of story involving paranormal elements such as ghosts rather the haunting and marks left by life experiences that are far too common for many people. I have never read anything by River Solomon before and will be looking for some of their other works to follow on from this as I found the writing to be very different from many books that I have read and am interested to read more.
