I've had a physical copy of Six Crimson Cranes which I haven't read yet and I ended up starting and finishing this first. I went in blind and was actually surprised I loved it. And because I went in blind, I just knew it was from the same author of SCC, it wasn't until the end and at the mention of cranes did I realize it was a prequel.
It's an easy read/listen. World building, magic systems, plot, and characterizations - all of them I found really brilliant(should I say radiant? badum tss)
I kinda now regret putting off reading SCC. Putting it up higher on my tbr list now.
