Naoki Urasawa's 21st Century Boys, Vol. 2 by Naoki Urasawa
4.0
What a wonderful series. I think, now that all volumes are available, that it would be best to go back and read through, without pause. The story was both epic and personal. It was the story of childhood friends saving the world, about dreams coming true, faith and loyalty. When I say faith, I mean both the false faith of the "Friend," an interesting discussion by itself, but also the amazing faith in friends and in the self.
This series is both action-packed and quite thoughtful. Each chapter I read I was riddled with more and more questions, the mystery packed into each section was amazing, the plotting was very well done and had me hooked from the first.
I also found it interesting that Urasawa chose, instead of ending the series of 20th Century Boys, to end it in the 21st Century, in a way handing the story over to a new generation. These last two volumes, especially the final chapter, solved the mysteries and brought everything to an extremely satisfying conclusion.
I would recommend this, especially now that it's done, to any sci-fi fan, even those who may not be familiar with manga, this would be a great series to start a new passion!
