I am absolutely loving this series. It has everything I want in a fantasy: cool magic system, intricate world building, political machinations, riveting plot, excellent writing, and enemies to lovers with fantastic tension. Book 2 did not suffer from “sequel syndrome” in my opinion. The plot of this book stood on its own two feet, we got more back story and world building, as well as more character development and relationship building. I really like Tucker’s writing style, and found myself flying through the pages. As much as I love sarcastic Romy, I love that we got to see her more vulnerable side in this book. And I low key love when she makes a modern world reference and no one understands her. Book 3 will be my most anticipated release of the year whenever it comes out (fingers crossed for next year!!)lol
