The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

4.0

Erin Morgenstern is a phenomenal wordsmith who weaves page after page of magic. The Starless Sea is a novel story for book lovers, a deconstruction of book and story that pays homage to Lewis Carroll, C. S. Lewis, Neil Gaiman, Lev Grossman, and countless others. It's a captivating journey, to be sure. Its weakness lies is in the architecture. The plot collapses in on itself. But what's incredible is that the story maintains a metaview that reflects the collapse of the plot. It's wonderful writing that reminds me of The Neverending Story.
