Raw thoughts here!!
Good lord I am in love with coming of age novels, and this one just reminded me of why!
Perez’s writing was honest and beautiful. The pacing of this novel was impeccable - the passage of time felt neither rushed nor drawn out.
I’m in love with the sibling relationship that was developed between Andrea and Pablo. Perez’s characters were so delightfully dynamic - they showed both their light and dark sides.
I was gripped the whole way through and the ending did not disappoint.
This one gave me Betty vibes with the atmospheric prose and focus on maturation, isolation, societal belonging, and finding one’s place in the world.
