Daughters of Darkness by L.J. Smith
5.0
Daughters of Darkness is one of (it may even be my number one, but I haven’t read the others in so long that I can’t actually make that decision yet). I love Mary-Lynette. She’s smart, she sticks to what she believes in, and she isn’t willing to change herself for some boy she just met (she almost changed into a vampire, but she was kind of caught up in the moment when she made that decision). Ash’s character changes so much by the end (especially if you’ve read “Secret Vampire”). He starts off being an ass and hating humans, but by the end he realizes that he’s done a lot of bad stuff and he needs to fix himself. They don’t end up together, which I swear makes me cry every time I read it, but it’s still a good ending. Plus there’s a short-story called “Those Who Favor Fire” that they’re together in.
