January by Jude Ouvrard

Master Sergeant Even Keeler's life was turned upside down when the Humvee he was in exploded and his best friend, Flynn Parker, died. Now he has lost his will to keep going and blames himself for not being prepared for the attack.

When Evan's mom forces him to see how lucky he is to be alive, Evan knows the next step is going to see Flynn's family.

Flynn's twin sister January is not dealing with the loss and can the two of them overcome their loss together?

This was a good book about overcoming a devastating loss and finding a way out of the darkness.

My heart broke for everything that Evan had been through and I liked that he was struggling as you hear so many people that had been in combat that go through things like this. I liked that his mom finally got through to him and he decided to live again.

January was going through her own issues with the loss of her brother and I liked how the two of them came together but I was completely shocked at everything that she revealed to Evan.

I was sad when Evan had his episode of PTSD but I was glad that January was able to get through to him so he didn't give up.

I loved the end and how it tied into Flynn!
