This book felt different than the first two in this series. I may be in the minority when I say I loved it for that diversity though! This story felt more realistic and real than the others, like I truly could imagine myself in Sloane’s shoes. I love the fantasy of the first two books, but this one being like a slap of reality made my heart happy.
If you’re not big into explicit details, I’m not sure Elsie Silver is the author for you at this point. I’m not the biggest fan but I’ve learned Chapters 20-25 are the ones with the nitty gritty and if I’m not feeling it I can skim or skip.
Other than that, my only wish was that Sloane’s identity that was portrayed in this book was less centered on a good man rewriting bad men’s wrongs and more about her regaining her confidence herself. I understand it’s important to the story to have Jasper’s support and inspiration to stand up to bullies, but I also think there could have been more focus on Sloane and her transformation as a woman without feeling at times like she only had the confidence to do so because she had another man behind her… telling her what to do…
