Avengers: The Children's Crusade by Allan Heinberg

4.0

I fell in love with the series after the first page of the first volume, even though I'm not a big fan of time traveling plots (outside of Back to the Future and Quantum Leap). I'm very interested in the characters as well as their relationships, which is what keeps me drawn into any comic series.

Children's Crusade started off well and exciting, I was pulled right in, though after the third and fourth issues, it started to slow a bit, being bogged down with a lot of 'previously on the Young Avengers', time travel, and multiple characters being thrown about. I would have preferred the story to stay focused on Billy, Tommy, Wanda, and the Billy and Teddy relationship.

One of the best things about the Young Avengers (no matter what issue or collected volume you're reading) is the Billy and Teddy relationship (to me.) I'd love to have more of them in their down time, but I do like that we see how much they care about each other during missions and runaway plans. The relationship feels true and not forced.
