At times thought-provoking, the succinct but at times glib presentation can carry deeply troubling implications. Laying the blame of the onset of modern mental disorders at the feet of structural issues and not taking the time to consider causes such as improved diagnoses or a greater willingness to treat said issues is by far the most uncomfortable assertion present in the text, but I feel it has more to do with the brevity of the book than authorial intent.
It is also a book more dedicated to laying the groundwork for alternatives, not presenting them. If you came here to actually consider the alternatives, be aware this is an indictment of capitalism and the intellectual laziness of accepting it as ubiquitous and immovable, not a discussion of other options.
