A Beautiful Mess by T.K. Leigh

2.0

I can't honestly remember how I got this book. I wanted to like it, I really did, because the concept holds a lot of promise. However, I ended up flouncing about 80% through.

While there are certainly things I liked about the book and the characters (love of animals, connection between Olivia, Mo, and Kiera), it read poorly. It wasn't even the POV jumping that really got to me, either, it was the mercurial aspect of Alexander and Olivia, too. The over-the-top'ness of, well, basically everything. I'm quite willing to suspend my belief up to a certain point, but after a while... I just can't.

One major irritant for me, mood-swings aside (never mind any comparisons I drew between these characters and those from a certain series - no, I'm not talking story-wise, but characters themselves), were the sex scenes. Seriously? Every. Single. Time someone comes, they scream or shout the other person's name? Also the control aspect. Don't get me wrong, I love a good BDSM (-style) story, but this was definitely not it.

This story just wasn't for me.
