this book continues just as the first book: the writing is beautiful, the story is carefully crafted and often misleads the reader for a while, all of the characters are unique and never just good or bad. the book is as much about community as the first one, and yes, ice hockey is still important, but it still really isn't a story about sports. the characters are the same as before, just a few new ones are introduced. it seamlessly continues after the first book, and even though the ending was absolutely heartbreaking, it fits the story. it immediately made me want to read the third book, especially because some things are already hinted at, but i feel like the story is once again complete on its own.
Graphic: Homophobia, Violence, and Blood
Moderate: Child death, Death, Terminal illness, and Death of parent
Minor: Alcoholism, Child abuse, Drug use, Rape, Suicidal thoughts, and Suicide
