You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian

Well! This was upsettingly good!!!

I didn't think anything would approach how much I loved the first book in this series, but damned if this one got me. It's about baseball but baseball is a metaphor. It's about grief and aging and losing something and thinking your life's over and the way life begins again after all that. It's absurdly well-written, by which I mean I forgot at multiple points that I was reading a book, and that this is part of my job, and that I should be paying attention to what the language is doing instead of just cheerfully following it around from room to room. You can't see the seams in this.

Come for the vintage queers, stay for the meditation on the human soul I GUESS!
