86 is smart and poignant but still remains a light novel. Between the bleak sci-fi concepts and rampant discrimination, there's a bunch of dumb tropes like guys creeping on women in the bath and the protagonists having special powers no-one else does. It comes off as cringe at times but manages to power through it with a very tight story that never lets up and has a lot to say.
