Secrets for the Mad by Dodie Clark

4.0

So I read a review that gave this book one star and whilst I agreed on some of their points, I found that review was unfair. This book doesn't advertise itself as something it's not, it is clearly a semi-bibliographical, advice book and it never suggests otherwise.

If you enjoy Dodie's content, then I highly recommend this book. Her video style translates well to the book format, keeping it light-hearted in some aspects and seriously educated in others while keeping Dodie's tone throughout. I'm nearly twenty-one and still learnt something from her book! Maybe I am in that "young" target audience that reviewer mentioned this book was solely for but I'm teetering on the edge of it. Dodie covers mental health, sex, relationships, a few recipes and alcohol - all which I found interesting on her take of. The reviewer mentions that she has talked about all these topics in her videos before but as someone who has only been watching for two years, I hadn't heard all of them and that it is a good thing she's re-telling some of them. Not everyone has been a fan since day one of her channel and I appreciate her going back to tell stories for even the beginners instead of the die-hard fans alone.

I personally would recommend this book for all Dodie fans, as it's a lovely addition to your bookcase.
