This is going to be a really complicated review and rating. On StoryGraph it’ll probably be a 3.5.

As with all CoHo books, this isn’t a “romance” in the traditional sense. It feels like a book about trauma and grief where they end up together in the end. If you’re looking for something lighthearted and hopeful, this isn’t it.

I did really enjoy the back-and-forth with half the book being the “before” of a happy relationship and the “after” being a marriage on the rocks. It created a good deal of suspense for me.

I kept thinking as I read, I’ve NEVER seen someone who needed deep, thorough therapy as much as now-Quinn. She was a WRECK. Understandably so, but man, it was hard to stomach.

The ending honestly decreased my rating. It was VERY condescending, summarizing the point of the book in clear black-and-white. I HATE that. Colleen, I just read the entire book. I have basic reading comprehension skills. Lighten your hand.
