5 stars does not do Jade Legacy justice. I’ve never read a 700+ page book as quickly as I read this one. Hands down the best conclusion to a trilogy I’ve ever read.
This trilogy and these characters will stick with me forever. I’m dead serious. If you’ve been putting this trilogy off, let 2024 be the year you stop making that mistake and bump this up your tbr!
From the plot, to the worldbuilding, to the characters and their dynamics, I’ve never felt such visceral reactions to moments in a fantasy book as I did with this one. Fonda Lee did an impeccable job with fleshing out the Kaul family, their friends, associates, and their enemies (I need an Ayt Mada spinoff ASAP). They will go down as some of the most memorable characters from any series I’ve ever read and I’ll be thinking about them and their respective journeys for years to come.
I’m in such a high right now so I know I’m all over the place, but just know that I couldn’t put this book down and as my final read of 2023, it just might end up as the best of the year!
