Lottery by Patricia Wood

3.0

Perry the main character says that there are slow talkers, slow thinkers, and slow walkers. “The Lottery,” is told in the first person by Perry a ‘slow,’ 39+ year old man, who has an unusual amount of common sense and instilled with a sense of whom to trust. Because it is told from Perry’s perspective we get unadorned writing that captures the simple beauties of life told in a spare way. Wood gives us an interesting look at the prejudices some hold against others. It was a good, quick read with some gently-handled insight.
