I did not enjoy this book. The premise was interesting, the beginning and middle were interesting, but I was disappointed with the ending. This book felt like a study more than a story, characters to root for, etc. Either that, or someone's recount of living in a concentration camp; depressing, hopeless, and no change in that tone whatsoever. Probably for people who can go without likeable characters, resolutions, and happiness.
Graphic: Genocide and Violence
Moderate: Body shaming, Blood, Child death, Police brutality, Sexism, Rape, Mental illness, Suicidal thoughts, Confinement, and Death
Detailed thoughts of rape, brainwashing.
