“Sometimes the things that scare me the most are the things I really want.”

Four years ago, I was rejected by my brother’s best friend, and I walked away, never looking back. Now, working as a journalist in the big city, I’ve been assigned to write an article on a small-town firefighter who recently saved a girl from a fire. I never thought I’d be back in my hometown, face to face with the man who broke my heart.

I loved this read. You could feel the energy between Ainsley and Lachlan. Even though she never looked back, now being forced to talk about what happened between them in the past was something I really enjoyed. The tension and chemistry, with some great banter thrown in, was perfect. I never thought I would read about frisbee being a sport, but it was quirky and fun. Also, Lachlan’s daughter, Rose, is adorable. I think this is a feel-good, easy, but also heartfelt read. I’m excited to read the rest of the series. Connor and Vanessa did a great job with the narration of these characters—I highly recommend it.
