Galveston by Nic Pizzolatto

3.0

I read this for the same reason everyone else did. True Detective. And this story of redemption in a noir bayou setting with a strong pot of coffee was a pleasant was to a drizzly Sunday afternoon. Punchy, and well written, though surprisingly delicate at times (which is to be honest is why I like 'True Detective', their was the same delicacy entwined in the darkness). Within a couple of chapters I was looking up images of the gulf coast and Galveston. The run down beach side has a certain appeal, well except with the harsh banal violence that seemed weaved into it's spine, it seemed like the perfect vacation spot.
