Animal Farm by George Orwell
5.0
I bought this book at a bargain bookstore just under a year ago, knowing it was something I should read one day. After leaving it to sit on my shelf unread for a while I finally asked myself "what are you waiting for?" and decided to just pick it up. I'm so glad I did.
If I had to describe this book in three words, they would be chilling, clever and clear.
Seriously, this is a must-read. It's less than 100 pages and it's not at all difficult to get through. It conveys its message with incredible clarity while also capturing a lot of nuance. And even completely removed from the historical and political context, it's just a damn good, thought-provoking story that holds up well now and will continue to years into the future.
