This was a very different read but I'm so happy I gave it a go. Delicate Condition is an unsettling and eerie telling of Anna Victoria Alcott, a well-known actress facing her toughest role yet, becoming a mother.

Anna's life isn't going according to plan. Despite her fame, she only wants a child of her own, more than anything else. So when she eventually falls pregnant through IVF, she waves off the strange symptoms, the unusual cravings, and the odd visions that haunt her dreams. As her pregnancy progresses things get even stranger, to the point where Anna feels as though something has gone unspeakably wrong.

The ending could have been a little further fleshed out, but the throws of this book were so captivating that I was hooked throughout.

This was such a good read, very mysterious and captivating. Danielle Valentine tells a perfect story and keeps the reader feeling unsettled throughout the entire novel. I've already watched Season 12 of American Horror Story which took inspiration from this book, and I'm excited for the second half of the series, hopefully, it can stand up to the quality of Delicate Condition because this was a terrific read.
