The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

5.0

I really loved the style of how this was written. Simply and almost poetic. It was such a flowing, easy read that my usual “just one more chapter” turned into “I’ll just read the second half tonight”.
I was a big fan of Greek mythology as a kid and knew the story of the Trojan war, and while this was a trip down a well trodden path, Miller had you looking at brand new sights through new eyes and new perspectives…which I think really made the pressure build getting towards the finale and knowing what was going to happen.
And then like that, it was done. And Miller turned the very last paragraph into a pin and popped me like a water balloon.
Such a great enjoyable experience. I liked muchly.
