The Old Ways: A Journey on Foot by Robert Macfarlane

5.0

I'm not a non-fiction person, but this book got me. I loved reading this book so much that I even underlined things in it, which I hardly ever do if I can possibly help it. Macfarlane's writing is so beautiful and clear, that it made me, an objectively unathletic and non-outdoorsy person, want to go do a long walking trail or walk the El Camino or something.
This book is inherently experiential. You are not reading about Macfarlane's walks; you are walking right next to him.
I can confidently say that I will be rereading this book for many years. It is a new favourite.
