Cowboy Seeking a Second Chance by Janice Whiteaker
lighthearted
fast-paced
3.0
[3 Stars] While I loved Cowboy Seeking Nanny, Cowboy Seeking A Second Chance wasn't my favorite.
Unfortunately, what ultimately brought this book down for me was Mae. While I'm all for a strong and independent female main character, I didn't understand why Mae had to constantly let Boone know how she had changed in the ten years he was gone...but also never afforded Boone the same courtesy to show her how he changed too. I got to the point where I didn't think Mae was worth Boone's pursuit.
I also thought the plot shifted too much to Mae's "feud" with Camille's husband, and left the relationship between Boone and Mae underdeveloped.
Honestly, this book might have slowed my momentum to finish this series, but I still like Janice Whiteaker's writing and might visit some of her other books
