A Betrayal of Storms by Ben Alderson

3.0

I thought that the idea for the plot was interesting. This isn’t my first book from this author but it’s sadly my least favourite. I’m not a fan of insta-love even though I liked their banter from the very start. They seemed more like good friends to me while Tarron, a random character introduced after the second half, seemed to have more chemistry with Robin, oddly enough. I feel like some things weren’t concluded, and even though we’ll probably get answers in the next volumes I feel like we would’ve needed a bit more closure on this part of the story before going to the next. There was a plot twist that really got me, which I always enjoy. I love that queerness wasn’t frowned upon too, even having a king and his husband mentioned. I found it odd that Robin didn’t like taking precautions to protect himself, I suppose being the main character gives you a pass from being one of the characters that die, since there are two more books to this series. I enjoyed the ending, although a bit rushed it gave us a good idea as to what we can expect to see in the next part. Will I be reading said part? We’ll see.
