Hitched: A Dark Hitchhiker Romance by Lauren Biel

5.0

4.5 stars

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I’ve never read a hitchhiker romance before and now I’m afraid that nothing will come close to Lex and his bunny.

This was an unapologetically dark read, rough edges and all. But at the same time, we have an escaped felon who’s never felt, given, or received love slowly falling for the woman who unknowingly fell into his trap. Their relationship was almost poetic at times. These two had their own dark love language, and it absolutely worked for them.

Selena was in an abusive arranged marriage and was lost, deflated, and full of fear before Lex came into her life. By being around him, she allowed herself to blossom and become a true badass. I was in shock and awe at the lengths she went to at times, and she even surprised Lex, which is truly saying something.

And the spice?? The range— Perfection. All of it.

The one thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was how Lex would repeatedly tell her that she should leave even after she said she didn’t want to. She had finally grown into herself and she didn’t fit in her old life; he was where she wanted to be. Stubborn man. He understood eventually, though.

This story felt like a breath of fresh air. I loved every minute of it. These two couldn’t have been more different but they became such a power couple. Highly recommended. Definitely mind your triggers with this one.
