I heard such good things about this author and I don't understand any of it. Cannot BELIEVE this was written by a woman; it's the most heteronormative male gaze-y thing I've ever read. Men and women are written like they're different creatures entirely (the #1 trope I don't want to read!); all the women are ✨tender and frail✨ dreamy beings but as soon as
a lady is bad all of a sudden she's considered ugly by the MC for no reason.
WTF??? It was frankly gross.
I had high hopes for how the MC and his partner were portrayed, i loved their friendship but the last third ruined it.
It was also ALLLL about him, his feelings took the forefront and not the victim. Yuck.
He became intensely dislikable by the end,
which is the point and not something I enjoy. Characters felt very fake too, and apparently all her books are more character dramas than mysteries and I am not here for that lol.
