What an impeccable journey. Moreno-Garcia knocked it out of the park with this one. My usual complaint with her books is lack of depth in her characters, but that was absolutely not the case here. I loved how she weaved the narratives of the three women, interspersed with interview-style snippets from the present. Each character was portrayed so distinctly and vividly even as their arcs paralleled each other.

True to form, the setting and atmosphere were immersive and meticulously researched. I've never consumed "sword and sandal" media before this, but the writing put me right in it.

This would make a great book club pick.
