Powerless by Lauren Roberts

4.0

Paedyn is an ordinary, she possesses no magical powers and poses as a psychic to avoid being banished from the Kingdom, where Ordinaries have been outlawed.
When she accidentally saves a prince from potential death, she finds herself selected to take part in the purging trials... alongside said Prince and other Elites. Can she survive without the truth about her Ordinary status coming out and why will these feelings for the Prince not disappear?

I'd heard mixed things about Powerless and have to be honest when I say that I was not expecting this to be for me. I no longer read much YA but with so many people still talking about this one, I had to give it a try.
Although Powerless does not do anything particularly new or unique, from about 40% in, I was hooked. Very Hunger Games like in plot, it moved quite quickly from this point onwards.
However, my main reason for enjoying this was Kai, omgggggggggg.
He is a man *obsessed* and the way he expressed his feelings about Paedyn had me swooning. So many sentences had me kicking my feet and I loved watching the relationship between the two grow.

I'm certainly looking forward to continuing the series and reading more Kai!
